We’re delighted to announce that we’ve been shortlisted for not one, but two different awards for our ‘Blackout Poetry’ self-promo ad.
Our fresh take on a very old different narrative (almost 425 years old, to be precise) has made the Copywriting category shortlist for both the Prolific North Creative Awards and The Drum Roses Awards 2023.
Last year, following our merger to become Different Narrative, we wanted to shout loud and proud about our full-service offer, bringing together creative advertising expertise including social and digital from Different, and PR and media from Narrative. And we wanted to share our ethos of questioning, innovating, and finding the different narrative in every client ambition: the golden nugget in every story that resonates enough to prompt audiences into action.
Enter William Shakespeare and one of the most famous narratives ever written about humankind. It’s perhaps even more relevant in our 21st-century brandscape – the world is indeed a stage, and in the realm of marketing it’s a more crowded stage than ever.
So, to illustrate our philosophy that it’s the different narratives that get clients noticed in this packed marketplace, we applied a bit of blackout poetry to The Bard’s ‘seven ages’ speech, revealing a very pertinent message.
The ad ran as a full page in the April 2022 issue of Northern Insight magazine, as part of a multichannel campaign spanning social, PR, and print, and we’re thrilled that it’s been recognised in an awards arena packed with tougher competition than ever.
All the best to our fellow finalists!
